Greatest Places to Eat (240)

This is a list of the greatest eateries. This list is small, as you might guess, for now. I'll add to this list as I discover new places that deserve placement here.

"Carol's Kitchen"

Anything that comes out of this kitchen is good!

"Joe's Barbeque Company", Alvin

Probably the best Bar-B-Q brisket I've had. Sause is good, probably second to Goode Company.

I recommend a sliced beef po'boy, sause on the side, and a mound of sliced pickles. Light beer of your choice.

"Goode Company Barbeque", Houston

Clearly the greatest barbeque sause anywhere! Yeah sure, the meat is great too, but this sause is so good it could make any brisket taste great. You people that don't live in Texas are really missing out.

2nd Photo On the building, the print above the Goode Co. logo says; "You might give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars you are in Texas". Also in that picture, what is at the base of the front of the building is all mesquite wood logs they use so slow-smoke that brisket.

3rd Photo The Goode Co. Barbeque Hall-of-Flame, conveniently located right next door.

I recommend the sliced beef plate with a side of potato salad.

"TreeBeards", Houston

I recommend the large plate of red-beans and rice (with cheese of course, but no sausage link, because it comes with ample diced sausage already). Add a cup of hoppin' John, some french bread, and your in business.

The Windsock Grill, Brazoria County Airport

We just sort-of discovered this one. It's right on the flight line. This picture was taken from within the Warrior, where I could taxi right in front of the restaurant (you can see the wing of the Warrior, and the reflection in the glass.) I had flown to Angleton one day, and was hungry. This great restaurant, fed me one of the greatest Tuna-Melts I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. For a hungry boy, it sure hit the spot. Also have to plug their ice-tea. Great brew! Also heard a rumor that these guys have cattered their cookies to Bush and his entourage, while on a campaign stop here, while he was Governor of Texas.

I recommend the tuna-melt, and iced-tea as I said. Can't be beat.

"The Last Concert", Houston

This is a real hole-in-the wall, obscure restaurant deep in the warehouse district of Houston that you'll never find by yourself. There is no parking to speak of (you have to park on the street and take your chances about getting a ticket). And the entrance is kept locked, even during the day. You have to knock and someone will let you in (like when going into someone's house). Even with those things against it, this place is still in business.

I recommend the mexican combo-plate. As a mexican restaurant, theirs is some of the best.

"Central Texas Style Bar-B-Q", Pearland

Central Texas Style Bar-B-Q

A long time BBQ restaurant south of Houston that is a great experience. A local family owned and operated establishment.

I recommend the link plate with a large glass of iced-tea.

"Humphrey's" Bar and Grill, Gillette (Wyoming)

Humphrey's

A favorite of the locals. And in addition to being a great place to eat, this is probably the best watering hole in all of Gillette.

I recommend the NEW YORK YANKEE STEAK FINGERS, with a Coors Light beer in a frosted mug.
