"I purchased #1283 in the fall of 2005 and drove it for about a year and a half. From a technical perspective it is not a rocket but where it excels I think is at high speeds, your typical GT type car. But of course, no one can deny the joy it brings to everyone every time you stop. Older guys start with "I remember those.... isn’t that one of those...? what were they called again?" whereas younger kids just go "Woooow!" and think it’s the coolest thing they have ever seen. I usually avoid referencing the BTTF thing. Sure, the D gained notoriety from it but I think it got more ridiculed than anything.

In the spring of 2007 I started making plans to fix a few things. Primarily, the engine was leaking oil, the transmission had an occasional drip, there was a smell of a coolant leak, the AC needed an overhaul, the wiring needed some attention etc. With a fresh Stage I in hand I went to work re-doing the rear. A project that I thought would take three months turned out to be a four year project. You know, life gets in the way and a car project tends to get a lower priority.... Little by little though I got it done and the car is now ready for the road.

The car looks and sounds awesome.

Next I am going to attack the interior, but first I want to drive it for a while!"

"I had dreamt about owning a DeLorean since I was a little boy. As a child I used to cut grass, do chores or whatever I could do to earn a few dollars which I saved in an envelope under my bed. This envelope was entitled "DeLorean Money". My first purchase of a DeLorean was the Sunstar model DeLorean which I kept on top of my headboard and looked at every day waiting for the day I would own my DeLorean. At the age of 21 on August 17, 2007, after saving for several years, my dream of owning a delorean came true. I am now living the dream as the proud owner of VIN 03149, and it is my pleasure to be a part of continuing the late, great John DeLorean’s dream."

"I always wanted a Delorean since I first saw them. About 2001 I renewed my interest in purchasing one so I started looking on the web for information. I found out about the Delorean Car Show in Pigeon Forge in 2004 and saw they were raffling off a Delorean. I bought tickets and told a friend about it so he bought tickets too. He won. He didn’t want the car so I bought it from him. The car brings a lot of fun and attention."

"I am not a DeLorean owner (yet). My love for DeLoreans actually started with the movie “The Spy Who Loved Me” which introduced me to the Lotus Esprit. That car became my favorite car (replacing the VW Bug- from my Herbie days). Then, in High School, I learned that some of the Lotus Esprit designers and engineers where teaming up with a guy named DeLorean to make a car. Of course, I had to check it out. When I saw that car it immediately became my favorite car, and I have wanted one ever since. I still love the Lotus Esprit (77-89 models) and the old bugs, but no car has yet to replace the DeLorean as number one on my list."

DeLorean Owners Association Board Member.

Purchased my DMC12 in the Summer of 1985 after a chance sighting of the car on my wife’s birthday. I’m so lucky she remained cool and collected, as I am still crazy about the Giugiaro design! Through all these years of ownership, I am constantly looking for ways to keep this beautiful car modern and relevant for today. Having installed the DMC Stage 2 engine mod in 2002, I feel the car drives as it was expected to prior to the restrictions imposed due to the 1980s gas crisis. The front end has been lowered to the original designed height using what was advertised many years ago as ‘Euro Springs’.

Through my first 10 years of ownership, my focus was on keeping the mileage to less than 1000 miles per year. This precipitated many maintenance issues that I have since abolished by keeping the car well exercised. In 2010, DMC California helped with a full restoration of the interior. While the dash was out of the car, I took the opportunity to install some modern features. First was a Vintage Air A/C system that delivers crazy cold air. Only issue with this Gen 2 system is the terribly stiff adjustment knob for the cooling control. Next was a Pioneer stereo head with GPS display and 4.1 amplified sound system. Installing a double DIN stereo unit caused me to relocate other controls in the center consol. My favorite change was the addition of glove box and padded arm rest in the rear of the center console. I hope to finish the migration to LED lighting in the stock locations, and add decorative LED lighting in strategic locations this year. My passion for custom wheels will be put off until the 2017 DMC arrives, but they are my highest priority of unnecessary upgrades!

"Well, here in The border it is almost impossible find a DMC on the street. I saw this car in 1999 in a warehouse, but never the owner. After 3 months, the car just disappeared. And now in 2008, after my friend’s car had a visit to the dealer for service. I found it again. Again, 3 months of negotiation, and finally, I am the new owner of a DMC. "

"I am a DFWDMC club member, and also a DeLorean Owner’s Association member for many years. I also do marketing ventures every year. It seems there is always some company that wants to advertise ’blah blah blah in to the future’ or something along those lines. I followed John DeLorean’s career from just before he went to the Pontiac division and we [were able to] talk a few times as well. When the DMC was in the prototype stages I decided I wanted one which after few years lead me to a dealership, and I drove [my new DeLorean] off the showroom floor. Basically I was 25 and wanted to do something big. I was doing well in the stock market and so I paid cash. "

"Purchased in March of 2005 from original owner in Kansas City MO. This car was a daily driver and with 140,000+ miles is ’mostly’ original. Car is unique as the rusted frame was replaced in 1992 with a galvanized frame ("DeLorean World" Vol. 9, No. 1, 1992 article). Car is driven as much as possible and I plan to see over 200,000+ miles gone by in the upcoming years."

"I have owned my DeLorean- vin 5718 since 1991. Have done some repairs and updates over the years, gone thru the cooling fan relay problems, hot start problems etc. Unfortunately, because of life situations it had to sit in the garage down here in South TX for about 3 years W/O being run. In the process of re-doing the fuel system right now. Hoping for the best-- no thick varnish in the tank, just the varnish smell in the tank, but as expected the fuel pump boot had started to disintegrate, turn to tar. Cleaning tank and associated parts right now. Hoping for the best so far as the injection system goes-- waiting for parts, and solvent cleaning what I can."

"Like most people my age, I probably wouldn’t know this car existed if it wasn’t, of course, for Back to the Future. The first time I saw the movie I was too young to understand most of it, but I had it set in my mind that "I MUST own that car." And now thankfully since May 2014, I’m finally living that dream. I certainly wasn’t expecting for it to be as much of an attention-getter as it is, and I consider it a form of flattery when someone in a modern sports car tries to get me into a race that I know I’ll never win with the original PRV engine being in it. But when I can park next to a C7 Corvette in a parking lot and I walk back outside to see a group of people taking pictures of my car and ignoring the other, I know who the true winner is."

I had acquired 6118 back in 2009 in a non-running condition. There was an engine compartment fire that cooked just about anything that would burn back in the engine bay. It looks like a fuel line leaked from the fuel distributor down onto the ignition distributor and poof it went. Luckily the body and interior are in good condition except for the dash and binnacle, which has cracks in both. I purchased it off of Ebay, and I can say it will be my first and last vehicle purchased in that manner.... The car came from just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, and I've been slowly tearing into it ever since. And my wife would say there should be an emphasis on slowly... I previously owned 3309, but sold it not long after I moved to Texas so I could build a garage.

"I remember seeing a DeLorean for the first time and thinking along with the 70-74 Dodge Challenger, this was the coolest car I’ve ever seen. If I were in the business of designing cars, THIS is what I would want to come up with. Over the years I had seen them at shows, auctions and museums, but they were always out of reach. But in 2005, I realized the dream was in reach, and so I bought a refurbished DeLorean. I still get a rush every time I take it out.”

I bought the car in memory of my wife and named her Barbara. I have done restorations in the past and am currently restoring a 1963 Ranchero and a 1968 VW double cab Pickup, as you can see I like unique vehicles. I do all the restoration myself including the interiors, as my first trade was an upholsterer. "

“Believe it or not, I liked the car before the movie came out in 1985. Even at the tender age of 10, I knew an awesome car when I saw one. All joking aside, it is really neat to drive a piece of automotive history. Every time someone sees it for the first time I get just as excited as they are. It is definitely a driver’s car and that’s the way I intend on keeping it."

I fell in love with the Delorean as kid growing up watching BTTF. As I got older, I still love the BTTF series, but got more involved with the story behind the car, and it makes me love the car even more. Still nothing else like it on the road today after 36 years.

"I’ve owned the car since March 2005. It’s been under the restoration process since I bought it. I bought it to learn how the car works and was put together and to give me something to do. I have been a obsessive fan of the DeLorean since I saw BTTF part 3 when it came out. John DeLorean is still my hero, the accomplishments the man made are amazing. He went to the same high school as my dad. My youth pastor went to church with Mr. DeLorean so I’ve been around John’s past for most of what I can remember. I have found that DeLoreans come with a fever, once you get a taste of them it only gets worse and the only prescription is more DeLorean."

I have been wanting a DeLorean since they were introduced and since I am not getting any younger, I finally did it (one bucket list item down). She was just purchased from her previous owner in PA (who I believe is the 2nd owner). She has 23,700 miles and needs some work to get her in safe and drivable condition, but she does run and had last passed inspection back in 2011. She is being shipped directly to DMC Texas for evaluation and we’ll see what they have to say. Let the adventure begin…

It has been my dream to own a Delorean since I saw the very first BTTF movie. I visited DMC Houston and toured their facility and inventory in 2009 and my desire of ownership went up another notch. In February 2016, after looking at one for sale online (Oklahoma) and comparing to this pre-owned in DMC Houston, I decided that I couldn’t wait any more.
